Deciding to give up his symbolic power, King Lear (Patrick Magee) decides to split the kingdom between his three daughters - Cordelia, Goneril and Regan - according to how well each loves him. When Cordelia protests at having to declare her love, Lear foolishly cuts her off, and is left at the mercy of her two, power-hungry sisters, who are all too keen to seize power for themselves.
