An animated story based on a West African tale which follows the adventures of a small boy who emerges into the world walking and talking He must battle against an evil sorceress who has been killing the men of his village

Kirikou speaks to his mother from within her womb, demanding to be born. Taken aback by such boldness, Kirikou's mother tells him to go ahead and birth himself; which he does and emerges walking, talking and looking at the world with a mind uncluttered by myth, superstition and prejudice. He undertakes a perilous journey in order to free his village from the spell of a sorceress.
