Love in Tokyo is a charming frothy comedy of chance meetings and happy coincidenses. Chi Ku is a little boy in Tokyo who becomes an orphan when his Indian father and Japanese mother die. On hearing the news his indian grandmother Gayatri Devi (Lalita Pawar) sends his uncle Ashok (Joy Mukherjee) to get him back to India. However Chi Ku does not want to leave his beautifull Japan and tries to escape from his uncle by hiding below a truck where he meets Asha (Ashah Parekh). He recognises her as the girl he saw on TV because she has run away to escape from her uncle (Madan... Puri) who wants to get her married to Pran.
