Liz Garbus directs this documentary profile of the legendary Hollywood icon. Using previously unseen personal papers, diaries and letters, actors including Uma Thurman, Marisa Tomei, Elizabeth Banks and Glenn Close bring the many facets of Marilyn Monroe's character to the fore, revealing more about her guarded inner thoughts in the process. To complete this portrait, other actors including Adrien Brody, Hope Davis, and Ben Foster revisit some of the words written about Monroe by the likes of Billy Wilder, Natasha Lytess, Truman Capote, Gloria Steinem and Norman Mailer.
