Set in 1960s New York the sexy and provocative drama Mad Men follows the lives of the ruthlessly competitive men and women of Madison Avenue advertising an ego-driven world where key players make an art of the sell. Returning for its second season the Golden Globe''-winning series continues to blur the lines between truth and lies perception and reality. The world of Mad Men is moving in a new direction - can Sterling Cooper keep up? Meanwhile the private life of Don Draper becomes complicated in a new way. What is the cost of his secret identity?
Kyra Sedgwick struck dramatic gold with her interpretation of Deputy Chief Brenda Lee Johnson. Her character's gift is knowing what questions to ask and when, to catch out LA's criminals. The accolades have gone to Sedgwick for a wonderfully real portrayal but the beauty of the show is perfected by the ensemble cast. An extremely well-chosen supporting cast surrounding Brenda Lee, in both her professional and, in later series, her personal life give subtle comedy and familiarity to the show. The added touches of Brenda's terrible eye-sight, map-reading skills and secretive sweet tooth, make series one a very enjoyable foundation from which to enjoy the subsequent series.
