For the first time in nearly three decades Manchester United faced a new season with someone other than Sir Alex Ferguson in charge. With new manager David Moyes off to a winning start in the Community Shield against Wigan Athletic at Wembley it was to be the opening chapter of a season full of drama tension and as ever plenty of talking points. Wayne Rooney committed his future to the club and celebrated with one of the most remarkable goals in United's long history Juan Mata arrived to light up the Reds' midfield and teenage sensation Adnan Januzaj broke through... the ranks and ended the season as one of the most exciting young talents in Europe. As the campaign drew to a close we also bade an emotional farewell to Nemanja Vidic. And what about the incomparable Ryan Giggs? Still capable of producing at the highest level on the pitch - witnessed in the comeback against Olympiacos - he ended the season as interim manager following the departure of Moyes aided by his fellow graduates from the Class of '92. But throughout this challenging season one constant remained - the unstinting support of the United faithful. True Reds one and all.
