Double bill of crime dramas based on Agatha Christie's novels and starring Joan Hickson as amateur detective Miss Marple. In 'The Murder at the Vicarage' (1986) Marple assists Detective Inspector Slack (David Horovitch) in solving the murder of Colonel Protheroe (Robert Lang), after he is found dead in the vicarage library, but there's an abundance of plausible suspects and two of them even confess to the crime. In '4.50 from Paddington' (1987) Miss Marple finds herself investigating another possible murder after one of her friends witnesses someone being strangled on a passing train. At first, Slack isn't interested in her tales but when Marple discovers a body the local police are forced to join her in her investigation.
