Triple bill of action thrillers. Tom Cruise stars in 'Mission Impossible' (1996) as master of disguise Ethan Hunt, an IMF agent hunted by his own agency after a mission in Prague goes wrong. Going to ground, he enlists the help of two discredited agents to track down the real villain of the piece, a quest that takes him to the heart of CIA operations. A hi-tech updating of the 1960s TV series, with the spectacular set-pieces that are a trademark of director Brian De Palma. In 'The Sum of All Fears' (2002), America's security community is on edge: the Russian premier has just died and been replaced by President Zorkin (Richard Marner) a man whose international ambitions are something of an unknown quantity. Fortunately, seasoned CIA agent Jack Ryan (Ben Affleck) is on hand to profile the man in the hot seat. But then the USA's worst fear comes true when Baltimore is struck by a nuclear device during a football game. Ryan's boss Cabot (Morgan Freeman), is convinced this isn't really a Russian strike and dispatches Ryan to uncover the truth before the USA and Russian Federation slide into World War 3. A shadowy terrorist group might just hold the key... In the sci-fi action drama 'The Core' (2002), an unlikely group of soldiers and scientists unite to save the world from destruction. After investigating strange phenomena from around the world, Dr. John Keyes (Aaron Eckhart) finds that the Earth's electromagnetic forces have started to collapse due to a lack of movement in the molten ore at the Earth's center. Keyes must recruit a team for a mission to save the world.
