One of his main influences was Louis Armstrong and after travelling to New York he performed together with Frank Sinatra at a local Bar. Alexander's swing and lyricism inspired giants such as Milt Jackson Clark Terry... Dizzy Gillespie and many others some of whom he recorded albums with.
