Michael Caine and Clémence Poésy star in this comedy drama written and directed by Sandra Nettlebeck. Matthew Morgan (Caine) lost his wife Joan (Jane Alexander) three years ago and has been living with the grief ever since. When a chance encounter with a stranger on a bus, Pauline (Poésy), leads to an unlikely friendship, Matthew begins to see what he has been missing. Threatened by his father's new-found friendship with a woman young enough to be his daughter, Matthew's son Miles (Justin Kirk) tries to scare her away. His methods backfire however, and Miles ends up falling for Pauline.
