J. Lee Thompson directs this 1950 British crime thriller starring Dennis Price, Derek Farr, Patricia Plunkett and Joan Dowling. Young couple Stephen and Jan (Farr and Plunkett) take rooms at the home of Matthew (Price), an aristocrat with financial difficulties, but their stay seems set to be a short one. After a fight between the couple that Matthew overhears, Jan storms out claiming that their relationship is over. Stephen heads out in search of consolation and meets Grena (Dowling) at a nightclub. She agrees to accompany him home but is upset when he receives a call from Jan and decides to call of the tryst. A scuffle ensues, which Matthew again overhears, and Grena falls and bangs her head. As Stephen panics, convinced he's dealt the young woman a fatal injury, Matthew spots an opportunity to make himself wealthy again...
