For the first time since the 1986 Danny DeVito voiced 'My Little Pony: The Movie' everyone's favourite gang of magical nylon-haired quadrupeds returned to the big screen in 2013 for this brand new feature length movie. Based on the animated series My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic the movie re-envisions the main characters of the series normally ponies as human characters in a high school setting. Set after the show's third season finale the movie involves Twilight Sparkle being sent to an alternate world... to recover her magical crown after it is stolen by a bitter and wicked Sunset Shimmer. While learning how to behave as a human Twilight comes to befriend the human counterparts of her pony friends and with their help stops Sunset and retrieves her crown. The movie's release was tied in with the expansion of the My Little Pony toy line to include teenage human versions of the main characters and also commemorated the 30th anniversary of the launch of the original My Little Pony toy line. Jayson Thiessen directs this animated children's feature. In the magical world Equestria, Twilight Sparkle (voice of Tara Strong) is a princess with newly acquired wings. However, when the envious Sunset Shimmer (Rebecca Shoichet) steals her crown and absconds into another realm, Twilight is forced to use a magic mirror to pursue her. Regaining the crown will not be easy, however, since in this world Twilight lacks any special powers. Fortunately, though, she retains the ability to make friends. Can friendship conquer all?

My Little Pony Equestria Girls is an animated feature film starring characters resembling the main cast of My Little Pony 'Friendship is Magic' as teenage girls. Princess Twilight Sparkle's crown, which is the element of magic, is stolen by Sunset Shimmer who disappears into a mirror that leads into the human world. Without the crown, all the other Elements of Harmony will have no power to protect Equestria, so Twilight and Spike go through the mirror to chase after the culprit to retrieve her crown. They discover themselves in a new world where Twilight is a teenage girl and Spike is a talking dog, and find friends that resemble their pony friends from Equestria. Twilight works with her friends to become Princess of the Fall Formal to win her crown back from the human Sunset Shimmer and to 'change the destiny of these two parallel worlds'.
