Louis Theroux writes and presents this documentary which looks at the goings-on behind the scenes at the notorious Church of Scientology. After being refused permission to speak to church members or gain access to its headquarters in California, Theroux gets together with ex-church official Marty Rathbun to create dramatic reconstructions of alleged incidents of violence and abuse within the organisation. However, as the team attempt to delve deeper into their secretive methods, the investigation is interrupted by a number of tense confrontations with a Scientology surveillance group.
