Rebecca Miller writer/director brings her collection of short stories to the screen. Three women independently find themselves having to make tough decisions that will change their lives forever: Delia (Kyra Sedgwick) finally decides to leave her abusive husband to create a safe environment for her and her three children, but finds it difficult to accept help; Greta (Parker Posey), a bored cookbook editor, feels that she is not being stretched to her full potential until she is asked to edit the novel of successful novelist and realises her marriage is going nowhere: and teenager Paula (Fairuza Balk), who ran away from her family, decides to go on the road again when she discovers she is pregnant by the man she has been living with for the past year.
