American thriller based on the true story of inexperienced Canadian journalist Jay Bahadur (Evan Peters) who infiltrates a gang of Somali pirates to investigate how they live and what motivates them. When Jay is inspired to expand his horizons after gaining advice from one of his idols, Seymour Tolbin (Al Pacino), he plans to travel to Somalia to launch his journalistic career by documenting the lives of Somali pirates, immediately landing himself in risky situations while getting a glimpse of the meanings behind the violence and crime.
