One of Miyazaki's finest pieces of animation! A heart-warming story about a pig (once human) who is a brilliant pilot who is challenged by his enemy.
If you've seen Spirited Away and Laputa: Castle in the Sky, you'll love this one too. I saw the American dubbed version first, much as I tend to think they don't give the real authenticity of Miyazaki's work, there were one or two bits (translated differently) which made this film rank as highly as all his other works. The ending is not particularly predictable, or at least I didn't think it was going to end the way it did.
    Definitely worth watching.

From the renowned director of 'My Neighbour Totoro' and 'Princess Mononoke' comes this period, fantasy anime about an Italian, ace WWI pilot who undergoes a transformation to become Porco Rosso, part man, part pig, after witnessing the deaths of other pilots in his last air battle. Under this spell, Porco Rosso survives by taking odd jobs, and finds himself in one comic situation after another as he romances women, rescues the innocent, and looks for a way out of the porcine spell.

Acclaimed Japanese animated feature from Studio Ghibli. Set in the 1930s, the film follows Porco Rosso (Shûichirô Moriyama), a talented fighter pilot who is turned into a pig by a magic spell. Adapting well to his porcine transformation, Porco sells himself out as a pilot for hire, until a big shot American flyer arrives, looking to make a name for himself by shooting down the Crimson Pig. With his feisty sidekick Fio (Akemi Okamura), Porco gets his battered plane back into shape for the big showdown.
