Portland Expose DVD

The Whole Scorching Story... BRIBE by BRIBE... SIN by SIN... SHOCK by SHOCK!In the 1950's LIFE Magazine printed a blistering expose on the rampant sin, crime Teamsters-controlled corruption that at the time had a stranglehold on Portland, Oregon. Producer Lindsley Parsons seized upon the considerable publicity and assembled a cast of great character actors for the starring roles. Although the film crew was threatened with physical violence, the result is a dark and gritty filmed-on-location crime drama that contains considerable violence for a 1950s' movie most notably... a violent rape scene with the Frank Gorshin character and a teenage girl. Gritty 1950s thriller in which an Oregon tavern owner gets caught between two competing gangs and drawn into the world of organised crime. Based loosely on real events - the mob influences surrounding the Teamsters' Union in 1950s America - the film follows the fortunes of pub owner George Madison (Edward Binns) who gets caught up in the struggle for control of the union. He initially feels he has little choice but to join the world of organised crime. However, when a mobster, Joe (Frank Gorshin), tries to rape his young daughter, Ruth (Carolyn Craig), George decides enough is enough and tries to extricate himself from their grasp.
