Jimmy Haskell (James Stewart) is a music-lover who happens across an excellent new band rehearsing on a boarding house roof. The players are impoverished, but Jimmy sets out to help them find fame and fortune. He encounters an unforseen obstacle, however, in the form of his wealthy Uncle Charley.
