The jewel of Hitchcock`s crown needed no polishing at all. Revered more than most fleshy flashy boxes, its bare-bones disc had already become an inevitable part of film collections all over the world. Still we are living in the age of special deluxe ultimate extended this- and that cut and so on, aren`t we? So it seems like this re-release was inevitable too.
The movie itself needs neither introduction nor review as a matter of fact. This is the one to be watched and to be marvelled at--the thriller of thrillers, the genre-defining horror movie. Behold what you are watching!
"Psycho" has attained such stature that rarely if ever a list of greatest films fails to mention it.
Even though some people thought some years ago it was high time for "Psycho" to be made again. I wonder on what project they are going to use their considerable talents next: the motion picture Citizen Kane? the static picture Mona Lisa?
In a movie not short of memorable, nerve- and genre bending cinema, some scenes stand out. The shower scene is the most "notorious" one of them all, no doubt. But the most shocking scene according to many is the one culminating to exposure of Norman Bates' "mother". Still, the most effective scene, or shoufd I say the most haunting one, in my opinion, is the one showcasing Bates with his stuffed birds and other artifacts.
The new, double-disc release indeed does justice to the masterpiece of suspense. Both audio and video transfer are fine. Additional material does not seem extra-terrestrial in this case.
All in all, thanks to enhancements and additions it features, this deluxe package leaves hardly any thing to be desired. It does an excellent job to quench the thirst of movie`s innumerable lovers.
If you are one of those millions who adore this classic, well, then you scarcely need any further recommendation I suppose. Anyhow, you got this one.

Alfred Hitchcock directs this Oscar-nominated thriller starring Janet Leigh and Anthony Perkins. Marion Crane (Leigh) goes on the run after stealing $40,000 from one of her employer's clients. Taking a wrong turn in a storm, she arrives at the isolated Bates Motel, run by the twitchy Norman (Perkins), who is constantly at the beck and call of his unseen mother. When Marion takes a shower in her room, a sudden knife attack brings her life to an end. Upon discovering her body Norman covers up the murder, but it is not long before Marion's sister and boyfriend are attempting to track her down. Leigh's performance won her a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress.
