Archaeologist Sigurd Svendsen has for years been obsessed with the Oseberg Viking ship. The only inscription found on the ship is the enigmatic ‘man knows little’ written in runes (the letters of an ancient alphabet). In order to discover if there is any truth in the myth that predicts the end of the world, archaeologist Sigurd Swenson (Hagen) goes on an expedition with his children and two of his colleagues. Their journey leads them to 'no man's land' between Norway and Russia which has been left untouched by humans for centuries.
