Red Cliff is a Chinese historical epic set in 208 AD and tells the story of the most famous Chinese battle of all time, The Battle of Red Cliff. A true David and Goliath story, Red Cliff is set at a time when China was divided into three warring states. To unite them together Prime Minister Cao Cao sent 800,000 soldiers to wipe out the South and West Kingdoms, whose combines army was a fraction of the size, but their resistance and courage against this larger army was to go down in history.

In the final days of the Han dynasty, tyrannical warlord Cao Cao (Fengyi Zhang) invades the kingdom of Wu with his army of over a million soldiers. However, Wu's military strategist Zhou Yu (Tony Leung) devises a plan to join forces with former rival Liu Bei (Yong You) and challenge Cao Cao's invaders at sea, leading to a vast naval battle that culminates in the legendary Battle of Red Cliff.
