Hero of the people, he is known only as the 'Red Eagle'. José Ramón Ayerra directs this big-screen adaptation of the popular TV adventure series, set in seventeenth century Spain. When his son Alonso (Guillermo Campra) is accidentally blinded in a failed assassination attempt aimed at himself, popular local hero 'Red Eagle' (David Janer) takes up arms against the man responsible, corrupt Cardinal Mendoza (José Angel Egido), who, in league with the powers of England, Portugal and France, is plotting to seize power from Felipe IV of Spain (Xabier Elorriaga).
