Three teenagers soon regret having disturbed the reclusive Avery Ludlow (Brian Cox) in this revenge thriller from directors Trygve Allister Diesen and Lucky McKee. Korean war veteran Ludlow runs the local hardware store in a small Northwest town. Since the death of his wife, his only companion has been his old dog named Red, who he takes with him on his fishing trips. One afternoon while at his favourite spot, three teenagers emerge from the nearby woods demanding money. When Ludlow tries to reason with them, their ringleader, Danny (Noel Fisher), shoots Red. Tracking down the boy's father Michael (Tom Sizemore), and receiving no justice from the family, or later the courts, Ludlow realises he has no option but to claim it himself, by whatever means he sees fit.
