Caine (Burt Reynolds) gets a job to help crew a boat owned by the Professor a well-known marine biologist. Along with Anna the Professor's friend they embark not for scientific research but to find the wreck of The Victoria. The Professor is really looking for a horde of lost gold and when his rough crew discover the truth they are also out for all they can get - double-crossing each other to get their hands on the treasure.
