Award-winning comedy set in a Beijing bathhouse. Owned by Master Liu, the bathhouse provides a haven for a variety of different characters, some coming to dream, others to gamble, and others just to escape their wives, but all joining together in their enjoyment of the old customs. The only person who wants to push forward and forget the long-practised traditions is Liu's son Da Ming, but when he realises that his father's days are drawing to a close, he too begins to see the virtue in the old ways.
