This television adaptation of Paul Scott's sequel to 'The Jewel in the Crown' reunites Trevor Howard and Celia Johnson for the first time since their pairing in the classic 'Brief Encounter'. Colonel Tusker (Howard) and his wife Lucy (Johnson) decide to stay on in India after it is granted its independence.
