Marco Bellocchio co-writes and directs this Italian drama adapted from Massimo Gramellini's novel. The film follows middle-aged reporter Massimo (Valerio Mastandrea) who is still troubled by the loss of his mother who died in mysterious circumstances when he was nine. Realising he can't let memories of his childhood trauma continue to control him, Massimo is forced to confront his demons in an attempt to finally move on with his life. The cast also includes Bérénice Bejo, Barbara Ronchi and Emmanuelle Devos.
