Steven Silver writes and directs this drama based on the real-life experiences of four war photographers as they document the final days of apartheid in 1990s South Africa. Ryan Phillippe stars as Greg Marinovich, a freelance Soweto photographer who hooks up with three other photo-journalists - Kevin Carter (Taylor Kitsch), Ken Oosterbroek (Frank Rautenbach) and Joao Silva (Neels Van Jaarsveld). The four men, dubbing themselves the 'Bang Bang Club', set out to capture the brutalities of war as the three predominant fighting forces struggle for power. They go on to win several Pulitzer prizes for their brave and uncompromising work, but their harrowing experiences take their toll, and only two of the group - Marinovich and Siulva - survive to write the book on which the film is based.
