Series 1 of the drama in which a police officer becomes a vigilante in a bid to bring a notorious criminal to justice. Vince Faraday (David Lyons), an ordinary police officer in the fictional Palm City, becomes embroiled in an investigation into an enigmatic figure known as 'Chess'. When the investigation ends with Faraday being framed as 'Chess' and presumed dead in an explosion, his options appear to be limited. Estranged from his family and friends, Faraday adopts the persona of 'The Cape' and enters a potentially deadly game of cat and mouse with the real Chess (James Frain), the head of a powerful corporation.
