Dark drama exploring the sadomasochistic relationship of a lesbian couple. Two entomologists indulge in elaborate role play where Cynthia (Sidse Babett Knudsen) harshly punishes the younger, innocent Evelyn (Chiara D'Anna) for all her misdemeanours. But their act is entirely fabricated with Evelyn in fact pulling the strings. As their relationship evolves over time, the limits of their bond are tested as previously novel acts grow old and Cynthia yearns for a more conventional partnership.

Please note this is a region 2 DVD and will require a region 2 (Europe) or region Free DVD Player in order to play.  In an unnamed European town, in an unspecified year, live Cynthia (Sidse Babett Knudsen - Borgen) and Evelyn (Chiara D'Anna - Berberian Sound Studio). Every day Evelyn cycles to Cynthia s mansion to work as a lowly maid and every day the cruel, vindictive Cynthia inflicts countless sadistic humiliations upon her. But as the days go by and the pair begin to reveal themselves, it soon becomes clear that the humiliation may not all be of Cynthia s design... Startling, stylish and heady with atmosphere, The Duke of Burgundy is a dazzling exploration of romance, relationships and desire from the multi-award winning director of Berberian Sound Studio. Laden with wit and brimming with filmic references, it is one of the most remarkable films of the year and will doubtless leave you reeling.
