The Durrells Series 1 & 2 DVD

| DVD

Finding their place in the sun A warm, funny, feel-good series about a family's adventures on a gorgeous Greek island when they uproot from their English home in the hope of a better life. Based on Gerald Durrell's much-loved Corfu trilogy of novels, The Durrells sees impoverished but sparky widow Louisa Durrell make the radical decision to seek out a new destiny for her family when her options in late 1930s England seem to be limited to struggling on or marrying a wealthy but dreary older man. Concerned that the lives of her four ˜children', are heading down the... wrong track, she relocates her reluctant brood to a dilapidated house in the Greek sun. This beautifully-shot series follows the family as they adjust to their new life, face a whole new set of challenges and meet new friends, rivals, lovers and animals. [show more]

All 12 episodes from the first two series of the ITV drama based on the memoirs of British naturalist Gerald Durrell. Beginning in 1935, the series follows widowed matriarch Louisa Durrell (Keeley Hawes) as she makes the life-changing decision to move with her four children from their home in Bournemouth to the Greek island of Corfu in search of a better life. On arrival, the family's excitement quickly dissipates as they confront the realities of adapting to life on the island without their old home comforts, or even electricity. While young Gerry (Milo Parker) uses the opportunity to indulge in his growing love of nature his older siblings, Leslie, Margo and Larry (Callum Woodhouse, Daisy Waterstone and Josh O'Connor), search for love and new friends as they attempt to start over on the island.
