Miranda July directs this offbeat indie drama about a 30-something couple whose outlook on life is radically altered when they decide to adopt an injured stray cat. Dance teacher Sophie (July) and IT helpdesk agent Jason (Hamish Linklater) have been together for four years, and have created a safe little world for themselves that even has its own language. When they make the monumental decision to adopt a cat, they must wait a month for it to recover from an injury at the veterinary hospital. With 30 days to go until the day of adoption, Sophie and Jason undertake to overhaul their lives before their freedom is curtailed - sparking a train of unlikely events that will change their lives forever.
