Gods Must Be Crazy: For five thousand years, things have pretty much stayed the same for Xi and his fellow bushmen. Then one day, an empty Coke bottle drops magically from the sky, and life goes topsy turvy in the face of this generous 'gift of the Gods'. An international sensation, 'The Gods Must Be Crazy' is one of the most original and thought provoking comedies ever. Starring real life Bushman Nixau, it's a movie that looks at us from the other side - and shows us just how crazy we are. Gods Must Be Crazy II: This delightful sequel to the hilarious hit comedy is a piece of divinity inspired lunacy! Xi again collides with the so-called civilized world when he embarks on a search for his children, who are accidental stowaways on a poacher's truck. He soon crosses their path with two very odd couples lost in the desert. Xixo, perplexed by their strange antics, nevertheless finds himself drawn into a crazy adventure with people who know how to make machines....but who constantly need to be saved from the wilderness!
Both instalments of the 'epic comedy of absurd proportions' about the dubious benefits of Western civilisation. In 'The Gods Must Be Crazy', a Coke bottle drops out of the sky to the amazement of the Kalahari Bushmen who find it: they believe it to be a gift from the Gods. The bottle initially seems to the bushpeople to be a miraculous blessing, and they use it for all sorts of different purposes - but before long it becomes a source of conflict as they start to squabble over it. Eventually, one of the men, Xixo (played by real-life Bushman N!xau) sets out to return the bottle to the gods from whom he thinks it must have come, and so begins his first ever foray into 'civilisation'. In the sequel, 'The Gods Must Be Crazy 2', Xixo (N!Xau) loses his children when they accidentally stow away on the back of an elephant poacher's truck while on a hunting expedition in the desert. Once again, Xixo must venture into civilisation to retrieve them. The only problem is, he is continually distracted by so-called 'civilised' people who seem be in greater need of rescuing than his children are.
