Orlando Bloom stars in this thriller about a young doctor who goes to extreme lengths to keep a patient in his care. The self-assured and ambitious Dr. Martin Blake (Bloom) is a new resident at a Californian hospital. Having yet to receive the respect he thinks he deserves from others, he enjoys the praise he is given by the family of his 18-year-old patient Diane Nixon (Riley Keough), who he has successfully treated for a kidney infection. Taking pleasure in the power he has over Diane's care, he switches her medication so that she will end up back in hospital and under his control. The situation gets quickly out of hand, however, and only gets worse when an attendant, Jimmy (Michael Peña), finds evidence that could implicate Martin.
