Set on Death Row in a Southern prison in 1935, The Green Mile is the remarkable story of the cell block's head guard, who develops a poignant, unusual relationship with one inmate who possesses a magical gift that is both mysterious and miraculous.
The film "The Green Mile" is a very good story that involves a "mythical" creature (an angel) but it can also be seen as a true story that could actually happen. I found the film to be very dramatic and sensual due to the limited cast of major film stars (Tom Hanks, David Morse). The tale is portrayed beautifully courtesy of the director Frank Darabont. The connection between the prison guard and the "angel" or "inmate" was made to be believable and something that could never happen in the world we live in today. The film was very enjoyable due to the terrific performance from all the cast.
I have to say this is the best film I have ever watched. It's imagery is very powerful, and I defy anyone not to cry at the end. It carries a very strong message, but you do not realise this until a while after it has finished. I am almost afraid to watch it again in case it spoils it!

Screen adaptation of Stephen King's best-seller. In 1935 Louisiana prison guard Paul Edgecomb (Tom Hanks) meets convict John Coffey (Michael Clarke Duncan) and it is an experience which will change his life forever. Coffey, an eight foot giant, is on Death Row convicted of the murder of two children - and he is afraid to sleep in his cell without a night-light. Coffey also has a special gift, one which he uses to prove to the guards that he has been wrongfully convicted.
