Triple bill of American comedies starring Sandra Bullock. In 'The Heat' (2013), Bullock stars alongside Melissa McCarthy as two mismatched cops who are forced to work together. Unaware that her colleagues hate her, prim and priggish FBI special agent Sarah Ashburn (Bullock) is seconded to Boston where she's forced to team up with foul-mouthed, take-no-prisoners detective Shannon Mullins (McCarthy). When the pair are ordered to take down a local drug baron, the two cops' wildly contrasting styles - and mutual hatred - soon threaten to derail their mission. But as the weeks pass, a grudging admiration for each others' methods brings about a thawing in hostilities, as the ill-starred crimefighters turn out to be a force to be reckoned with. In 'All About Steve' (2009) Bullock stars as Mary Horowitz, a brilliant but reclusive and somewhat eccentric crossword puzzle writer for a local newspaper. In an attempt to propel their socially inept daughter into the outside world and the realm of men, marriage and children, Mary's parents (Howard Hesseman and Beth Grant) set her up with their friend's son, TV cameraman Steve (Bradley Cooper). Unfortunately Mary takes to Steve a little too enthusiastically, traipsing the length and breadth of the country in hot pursuit of him and his meddling colleague Hartman (Thomas Haden Church). Will Mary's passion ever be reciprocated, or is she just making a fool of herself? Forest Whitaker directs 'Hope Floats' (1998), a drama starring Bullock as Birdee, a woman whose life is turned upside down when her husband admits to infidelity with her best friend on national TV. Returning to her hometown with her young daughter to lick her wounds, Birdee has to endure the taunting of neighbours and enemies from her high school days. However, when another old acquaintance, Justin Matisse (Harry Connick Jr), comes back into her life, new possibilities begin to arise. Can Birdee make a fresh start?
