Bill Bixby plays tormented scientist Dr. David Banner, who has become exposed to dangerous gamma radiation that causes him, when he gets angry, to transform into the monstrous Hulk (played by Lou Ferrigno). In season two, David Banner falls in love with the beautiful psychiatrist who is trying to cure him, whilst all the time trying to keep his emotions in check lest he transform into his alter-ego.
