The show follows the crew of the USS Nathan James, captained by Tom Chandler (Eric Dane), on a mission to find the cure for a deadly virus which has rapidly spread across the world and decimated its population. In this season, following the death of Dr Scott, Chandler has been appointed US Chief of Naval Operations and Mike Slattery (Adam Baldwin) has taken over as the new captain of the Nathan James. Meanwhile, the ship turns its attention to helping the people of Asia after rumours circulate that the Chinese president has been withholding Dr Scott's cure.
