Humphrey Bogart stars in this 1950s drama as an American masquerading as a priest in a remote province of China. Former fighter pilot James Carmody (Bogart) takes on the disguise of a Catholic priest after upsetting ruthless warlord Mieh Yang (Lee J. Cobb). Surprisingly successful in the role, Carmody helps bring peace to a number of feuding villages in the region. However, his impersonation of a man of God is threatened by the mutual attraction that develops between James and nurse Anne (Gene Tierney). Matters are complicated further when Mieh Yang receives word of Carmody's whereabouts. Can the former pilot extricate himself from a very sticky situation?
