The Losers - The Complete Series DVD

| DVD

Riding high on his success as both Rising Damp’s seedy landlord Rigsby and frustrated middle-manager and fantasist Reggie Perrin Leonard Rossiter slipped further down the social ladder to portray a low-rent manipulative wrestling manager determined to make a quick buck. Penned by celebrated journalist writer and satirist Alan Coren this hilariously wry sitcom is directed by Joe McGrath and also stars Alfred Molina – in his first television role – as the champion non-champion.

Every surviving episode of the 1970s sitcom starring Leonard Rossiter as the wrestling manager who comes up with the lucrative idea of signing a dud fighter. Though Sydney Foskett (Rossiter)'s plan may not sound like a recipe for success, he banks on the fact that other managers are so desperate for their own fighters to win they are happy to pay bribes. Sydney signs up a certain loser, gentle giant Nigel (Alfred Molina), and the money duly starts rolling in. That is, until Nigel decides that he might enjoy the challenge of trying to win. The episodes are: 'A Star Is Born', 'The Naming of Parts', 'Out of the Strong', 'All Down in Black and White', 'Sitting On a Goldmine' and 'Togetherness'.
