British two-part television adaptation of the incomplete novel by Charles Dickens, which has been adapted to have its own new ending. In this version Edwin Drood (Freddie Fox) is betrayed by his jealous uncle, John Jasper (Matthew Rhys), who is infatuated with Edwin's love interest Rosa (Tamzin Merchant). Edwin confides in his uncle that Rosa's attraction toward him seems to be diminished, thus giving Jasper a reason to believe that he may be able to win Rosa's affections. When competitive suitor Neville Landless (Sacha Dhawan) takes an immediate and inexplicable dislike towards Edwin and the two end up in a fight, Jasper organises a dinner between Neville and Edwin so that the two can reconcile. As the evening draws to a close, the two men walk home together and seem to have a great rapport with each other. The next morning however, Edwin is found to be missing, and Jasper is quick to incite accusations that Neville has murdered him. With mystery cloaked around the question of what happened to Edwin, secrets from the past reveal themselves, and all is not what it seems.
