The Pablo Larraín Collection: Made In Chile DVD

| DVD

Collection of six films by Chilean director Pablo Larraín. In 'Fuga' (2006) a classical composer descends into madness after the memories of his sister's rape and murder revisit him. In the confines of a mental institution, he attempts to write a composition on the walls. When his work is stolen by a music student, grave consequences ensue. In 'Tony Manero' (2008) a man becomes obsessed with emulating John Travolta's character in the film 'Saturday Night Fever' (1977). Completely immersed in the character of Tony Manero, Raul Peralta (Alfredo Castro) commits increasingly... brutual crimes driven by the urge to win an impersonation contest. In 'Post Mortem' (2010) morgue worker Mario (Castro) is infatuated with his neighbour Nancy (Antonia Zegers), a dancer. When she disappears after a military raid on her home, he hurriedly begins to search for her. In 'No' (2012) dictator Augusto Pinochet initiates a referendum to determine the continuity of his position of power. A young advertising executive René Saavedra (Gael García Bernal) is recruited by the opposition to lead their campaign. In 'The Club' (2015) four exiled Catholic priests now in retirement share an isolated house outside a small beach town, in an attempt to cleanse their souls after committing sins such as child abuse and kidnap. Their stay is soon disturbed by a new priest who joins the four and is followed by his troubled past. Finally, in 'Neruda' (2016), Chilean poet Pablo Neruda (Luis Gnecco) is being chased down by fascist inspector Óscar Peluchonneau (Bernal) for joining the Communist Party in the 1940s. The two strike an unlikely friendship, inspiring Neruda to compose a new collection of poetry. [show more]
