In this fictional reworking of the Jack the Ripper killings, Victorian society is shocked in 1888 by a series of murders in London. Women have been strangled by a mysterious madman, and the only witness (Gabrielle Anwar) is a former prostitute considered expendable by Scotland Yard. When Inspector James Hanson (Patrick Bergin) is assigned to the case, he soon finds himself falling in love with the girl. Meanwhile, members of the Royal Family come under suspicion for the killings.
