Wilbur Gray (Peter Cushing) is a seemingly eccentric old author who presents his publisher with his latest manuscript. In it Gray claims that cats are the true rulers of Earth, and in the three ensuing stories he expounds this feline theory. In the first story a long-suffering young maid kills the harridan-like mistress of the house, only to be avenged by the old lady's ever-loyal cats. In the second story a family's life is turned upside down when a woman staying with them turns out to be a witch, accompanied by her sinister black cat. In the final tale, a cat exerts a horrifying revenge on its sadistic owner.
