James C. Strouse writes and directs this sporty comedy about a slacker dad who is offered a second chance. Divorced and estranged from his teenage daughter Molly (Shana Dowdeswell), Bill (Sam Rockwell)'s luck changes when his friend Terry (Rob Corddry), the high school principal, offers him the chance to coach the girls' basketball team. Bill's initial enthusiasm, however, rapidly wanes after meeting his rebellious charges, Abbie (Emma Roberts), Tamra (Meaghan Witri), Mindy (Melanie Hinkle), Wendy (Rooney Mara), Lisa (Shareeka Epps), and Kathy (Emily Rios). But as they get to know each other over the coming weeks and the team's results begin to improve, Bill and the girls soon come to realise that they can learn a lot about life from each other.

Waldo Salt Screenwriting Award recipient James C. Strouse follows up his 2007 Sundance Film Festival favorite Grace Is Gone with this comedy drama about an alcoholic ex-basketball star who gets a second chance at success on the court when recruited by a local high school principal to coach the girl's varsity team. Bill (Sam Rockwell) used to sink hoops in the NBA, but that was before the bottle got the best of him. These days, Bill's more likely to be spotted bussing tables at the local diner than hustling up and down the court. Handed the reins on his daughter's basketball team by the school's principal, Bill seizes the opportunity to get back in the game and set things right.
