Military drama starring Alec Guinness as Major Jock Sinclair, who has been in a Highland regiment since he joined as a boy piper. During the Second World War, as Second-in-Command, he was promoted to Acting Commanding Officer - but now that the regiment has returned to Scotland, a new commanding officer is to be appointed.
