Psychological drama starring Robert Mitchum and Shirley MacLaine, based on the two-hander play by William Gibson. Mitchum plays Jerry Ryan, a businessman from Nebraska who has arrived in New York following separation from his wife. Initially he is reluctant to ask for a divorce, but this state of affairs becomes untenable when he meets and falls in love with impoverished dancer Gittel Mosca (MacLaine).
