W1A DVD

| DVD

With the London games of Twenty Twelve successfully delivered W1A follows former Head of the Olympic Deliverance Commission Ian Fletcher (Hugh Bonneville) at the start of a new chapter of his life as Head of Values at the BBC a key and very specific senior new post which has been created in the light of recent learning opportunities at the corporation. Ian's task as Head of Values is to clarify define or re-define the core purpose of the BBC across all its functions and to position it confidently for the future. Upon arrival Ian feels that there is something... very exciting about the BBC and that he is now at the centre of something genuinely important. The really exciting thing is to think that part of his job is to try to establish where that centre is and also exactly what it is in the centre of. However Ian will not be alone as he is joined by a number of other BBC colleagues who are already there as well as by Brand Consultant Siobhan Sharpe from PR Company Perfect Curve (Jessica Hynes)- an expert in all aspects of communications theory except in how to apply any of them. Comedy from the team behind the BAFTA award-winning Twenty twelve. [show more]

Answer: The Twenty Twelve London Olympic Games. Conclusion: Let’s get that guy in to work for us. Hence the arrival of Ian Fletcher and the start of W1A. The post is sold to Ian as a chance to influence and shape one of the great British institutions. His job is to think Big Thoughts, but it doesn’t take him long to realise that not only does he not have time to think Big Thoughts, he never has time to think any thoughts at all.

All eight episodes from the first two series of the British mockumentary comedy following Ian Fletcher (Hugh Bonneville) in his new position as Head of Values at the BBC. Narrator David Tennant guides the audience through events as the former Head of the Olympic Deliverance Commission and his trusted PR operative Siobhan Sharpe (Jessica Hynes) take up their new roles, tasked with redefining the core purpose of the corporation and securing its future. But their reign gets off to a rocky start as the new recruits soon find themselves faced with accusations of anti-Cornish bias and age discrimination, dealing with warring presenters and under financial scrutiny. Carol Vorderman, Clare Balding, Salman Rushdie and Matt Baker are amongst the guest stars.
