They believed it would take them one year and would involve walking 4,000 miles. In the end, two and a half years later, only Ed would make it to the Atlantic, having walked 6,000 miles; weaving around tributaries, bandit country and flooded landscapes. Documentary following adventurer Ed Stafford on his quest to become the first man to walk the length of the Amazon River. Ed initially set out in the company of his friend Luke Collyer but the toughness of the quest drove them apart. Alone, Ed journeys on, facing intense heat, food shortages, rough terrain, tropical diseases, dangerous insects and human hazards including local tribes and drug kingpins as he bids to complete his historic journey.
