A most entertaining film showing Britain in the fifties.This 1951 Nettlefold production was directed by Lewis Gilbert, who went on to direct a whole string of hit films, Reach for the Sky, three James Bond films, Alfie, Shirley Valentine and many more.In this early work with the help of an excellent cast, the director shows his skills in aking a fairly simple plot most entertaining.Laurence Harvey is 'Mag Maguire' a likeable fairground boxer and Maxwell Reed, 'Eddie Racer' a motorbike daredevil rider. Lewis Gilbert directs this 1950s British romantic drama about a love triangle between three carnival performers. Both racing driver Eddie 'Racer' Peskett (Maxwell Reed) and boxer Mag Maguire (Laurence Harvey) vie for the attentions of the beautiful Lillian (Susan Shaw) who is stuck on both men. When Maguire is accused of a crime committed by Racer, the situation grows more serious and Lillian must finally make a decision.
